Free Tutorial - DSP Gift Bag and Card

Happy Friday All!

I've had lots of emails asking for directions for the fun gift bag I posted today here on my blog.  I thought I'd post it all here so you can get busy making your own!  Woot!  **Note: I used some retired products in making this sample.  I actually have someone special with a birthday coming up who happens to LOVE pink and green and this is the perfect color combo for her!** we go....

First you will need a piece of 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper.

STEP 1:  You will need to cut off 1 1/2" inches from one side.  **Note: This will eventually be the "bottom" edge so make sure to take that into consideration when cutting**

Once that's done....Rotate your paper to the left so that the edge you just cut is now the bottom edge towards you.

STEP 2:  You will now score the DSP at 4", 5 1/2", 9 1/2" and 11".

STEP 3:  You will then rotate your DSP 90 degrees to the right and score at 1 1/2". This section is the bottom of your bag (flaps).  You will then need to cut on the * score lines up to the bottom score line.  The little rectangle on the far right side will be cut out completely.  (See photo above)

This is what your DSP should look like once STEP 3 is complete.

Now the fun part!  Assemble your bag using strong glue (I use TOMBO) by folding all your flaps towards the inside and adhering them together to for the bag.

This is what it should look like once that's complete.....

Now I made a topper for my bag using the TOP NOTE DIE for the Big Shot.

I then embossed it with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder. I folded it in half to fit over the top of the bag and adhered just the part that's on the back of my bag.  The front has a Velcro closure under the Melon Mambo piece.

I then punched out a few flowers from coordinating DSP with the Blossom Punch and made a 3D flower to add some fun.  I added a few leaves/branches from the Bird Builder Punch too.

I made a 3x3 enclosure card and stamped an image from the "Mixed Bunch" stamp set with sentiments from the "Made For You" set.  And....VOILA!

Now doesn't that just look HAPPY??  :-)  I love it!  The Designer Series Paper in the new Stampin' Up! Catalog is amazing and I love how it all coordinates.  There are so many great designs that would be perfect to use with this technique.  Check them out at my ONLINE STAMPIN' STORE

I'd love to see what YOU come up with so please send me photos of your DSP Bags when you're finished.

Wishing you a magical day!
