Life...and stuff....

Hello, my friends,

Thank you to those of you who've emailed to check on me.  I know it's been a bit since I've updated my blog and I'm sorry.  I've had a week and a half of some major transitions and quite honestly it's left me completely whipped by the time I got home from work each day.  I have a hard time giving myself permission to just "stop" so I've had projects and things I've wanted to share but....I just had to take a break. Also, for those of you who've followed the blog for a know that I've already had 2 surgeries on my right foot/ankle within the last year....  I thought things were on the mend and I was all done with it (and hoped beyond hope to wear CUTE shoes sometime again SOON!).  Within the last month or so I've started having pain and swelling again and I've been really scared to go back to have it looked at.  Why? Because I really don't want to have more surgery.  I'm a chicken...I know.  Quite honestly I'm just not good at being laid up.  Just ask Mike and my mom.  :-)

So I finally couldn't take it so I went back to the specialist on Friday and he was really concerned.  Apparently my body hasn't been too kind to the area from the surgery.  Once again it's built up some pretty wicked, hard and thick scar tissue that has now apparently encased the nerves near the latest incision site.  The doctor gave me a cortizone shot (mixed with something else) way down deep while I was there.  When I asked how long it would last he said, "Well, they can last an hour, a day, a week, or six months.  You just never know".  Well....mine lasted about an hour.  GRRRR  Let me just tell ya...that one shot hurt SO badly...I actually cried!  ugh.  I don't want another one...thank you VERY much!  I have another appointment in 3 weeks so until then.....I wait and pray.

So as you can see it's been a little crazy here and stamping had to wait for a bit.

But...I'm back and I have a card to share today.  This on is a little "out of the box" for me. First is pretty much monochromatic....SO unlike me.  LOL   I love having the versatility to make tons of different styles of cards and projects with the stamps and accessories I have.  This card I'm sharing is one that is made using a new stamp set I bought mostly because (as you can probably tell) I'm in the "wedding" frame of mind with Brittany's engagement so exciting and new.
Let me show you the card and then I'll give you a few details.

This card is larger than the regular 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cards I usually create.  This one is 5" x 5" square and fits perfectly into the 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" envelopes from Stampin' Up!.  I wanted to make a card using the new "Love and Laughter" stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog so I thought this was the perfect shape for something a little different.
Here's a close up of the you can see the embossing....

The card is Whisper White done in layers.  The card base is embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  I then cut out a frame and embossed it with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.
The cake image is stamped in Versamark ink and then heat embossed with the Pewter Embossing Powder and a heat gun.  I added a bow made of White Taffeta Ribbon and an Antique Brad.
Here's a peek inside...

I really do love the look of all the images in this stamp set.  The images are so trendy right now.
Here's a peek at the images included
in the Love and Laughter Set...

They are just so lovely!  I hope you like the card.  If you have any questions, please send me an email or leave me a comment here on the blog.

If you haven't checked out the new class schedule, you can click HERE.  I'd love to share some new ideas with you.  I hope you can join me soon.

Ok...I'm off to sleep for now.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Stamped Blessings,

  1. Oh Michelle, I am so sorry you are going through all this and in so much pain. I am keeping you in my prayers and sending healing thoughts your way. I know it has to be so hard for you to just slow down because you take care of so many people, including us following your blog. But, take time for you and take it easy on yourself.
