Egg Nog Snickerdoodles

Hey there Peeps!  Welcome to the last Saturday before Christmas!  Woot!  I'm not done yet.  Still a few more gifts to buy and I still have wrapping to do.  That's okay.  I love Christmas and I love getting things ready for all of our family get togethers and, of course, for Santa''s midnight ride.  ;-)

Yesterday was my last day at school/work until after the New Year *happy dance*.  I participated in a cookie exchange this week and I made one of our family's favorite cookies..."Egg Nog Snickerdoodles".  Yum!
I've had a few people ask for the recipe so I thought I'd share it here for all of you.  These cookies are UH mazing and really easy to make.  I hope you enjoy them.

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1-3/4 cups sugar, divided
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon rum extract
  • 2-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg

  • In a large bowl, cream the butter, shortening and 1-1/2 cups sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and extract. Combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
  • In a shallow bowl, combine the nutmeg and remaining sugar. Roll dough into 1-in. balls; roll in sugar mixture. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake at 400° for 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
  • Yield: 6-1/2 dozen.
Have a magical weekend,

Coal in your stocking?

Happy TGIFE
(as Linz calls it....Thank Goodness It's Friday Eve!  :-)

Today's project is one that made Linz squeal with joy.....
Well....after she said,
 "HEEEEY! What's the BIG idea??"
Here....take a peek and you'll see why...

Here's a closer look....

and then the inside...

HAHAHAHAHA!  Don't you LOVE that WalMart Gift Card???  I knew I HAD to get it when I saw it.  Mike and Linz have a running "gag" going every year about her getting coal in her stocking.  This was just too good to pass up.

If you'd like to see a video tutorial of another style I created last year, here's the link.

These are really fun and easy to make and definitely a crowd pleaser.  The Stocking Die for the Big Shot is definitely one that gets a lot of use in MY stamp room.  How about you?

Alrighty...Have a terrific Friday and a fun weekend.

Elfie's Got a New Pair of Shoes!

Ok...I seriously need a 12 step program for Pinterest addicts!!
There are some seriously creative people out there in this big, wide world and I love that they share their creations with all of us.  I saw a project like this the other night on Pinterest and I had to create one of my own.  Here's what I came up with....

These are a rockin' pair of "Elf Shoes"!  Hee hee hee!  Aren't they FUN?  They each have 8 Holiday Oreo Cookies in treat bags and then the shoes are created around them.  I used Gumball Green card stock, some scraps of DSP and ribbon and some pom poms and VOILA.  I think it would be hilarious to leave these on the desk of your co-worker or maybe in the mailbox as a surprise for the mailman!  Ho Ho HO!

I hope you're crafting away and getting ready for a fun Christmas holiday.  Remember...."What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more." ~The Grinch
Gifts really DON'T have to come from a store.  The things that YOU make will mean oh so much more!

Have a magical day!

Dear Santa...

"Dear Santa....What I'd really want for Christmas is...."
How would YOU like choose whatever you'd like from the Stampin' Up! Catalog and get it for HALF PRICE?? Well, that sounds MAGICAL to me!

Do you need any other Stampin’ Up! Products before the holidays? We have some sets that make great stocking stuffers for the little ones such as the Make a Monster set or the Stylin’ Snowfolk (make your own snowman/snowwoman set). Do you want to wrap up some Stampin’ Up! goodies to put under your tree this year? Do you need one more pack of cardstock to finish your cards? Do you have enough whisper white, red, green or blue cardstock on hand? Are you almost out of Designer Series Paper? What about accessories? Do you have enough buttons, brads, ribbon, fabric, glimmer paper? Are you out of ENVELOPES????? We carry them in white, vanilla and crumb cake. Do you have enough adhesive? Will you be able to finish those last minute holiday projects or do you need a snail refill or two?
How about a two way glue pen, red liner sticky
strip tape, glue dots?

The Holiday Mini catalog ends on JANUARY 2nd so this could be your last chance to get something in time for the holidays.

I am finalizing an order tomorrow evening (12/12/12) and I can
add in ANYTHING you’d like to order.

Here are a few benefits for you:
I am going to cover the express 2 day shipping fee so it is NO MINIMUM SHIPPING CHARGE AND NO EXTRA EXPRESS SHIPPING CHARGE FOR YOU,
just the regular workshop shipping charge will apply.

The items should arrive to me by Monday, December 17th and be ready to use (or wrap up and put under the tree)

If I get $100 in orders I will be able to buy anything in the catalog for HALF PRICE
(YES, ANYTHING from a snail refill to a BIGSHOT – for HALF PRICE). Since I can’t think of anything else I need, I’m going to raffle that ‘opportunity’ off to anyone that emails me with an order between right now and noon tomorrow (12/12/12). Email me at:

**Please add what you'd like as YOUR 1/2 PRICE ITEM in your email. I'll be posting the winner tomorrow evening. If you don’t want anything, please let me know ASAP so I can offer the opportunity to someone else and I'll draw another name out of the hat.**

So, think for a moment and see if there is anything you need to have in your hot little hands before this weekend. Ordering even just ONE snail refill puts you in the
running for a chance at an item at HALF PRICE.

Wishing you a magical Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

Ho Ho Santatizer

Ok...I can't stop myself!!  I'm in full on Christmas crafting mode!!  It's a really good thing this isn't a "video" blog because you would faint dead away if you could see my stamp room right now!  Wow!!  It looks like the North Pole!

I love making fun projects like this one.  Here's one I made after seeing something like it on Pinterest.  It's the perfect way to fight off those creepin' crud germs this time of year and it looks festive to boot...

A little "Ho Ho Santatizer"...

I bought a bottle of regular, old hand sanitizer and covered it with a piece of Real Red card stock.  I cut a 1" wide strip of Whisper White card stock for the "fur" down the front of Santa's coat.  I ran it through the Big Shot with the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.  I adhered it down the middle of the front.  I then wrapped a 1" wide strip of Basic Black card stock around the middle and adhered it.  I punched out a "belt buckle" from Brushed Silver card stock using the Curly Label Punch. The buckle is adhered right over top of the black belt.  Isn't that cool??

The tag is made by using one of the fun Holiday Ornament Framelits and a scrap of Gumball Green card stock.  It's then embossed with the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder.  I added a little topper to the ornament by punching out another ornament out of the Brushed Silver card stock scraps and adhered it.  I printed out the "Santatizer" label using MDS and Whisper White card stock.  It's punched out with the Modern Label Punch...and, you know me....I just HAD to add a little "BLING"!  The tag is then tied on with a piece of Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine.

I have to say....this would be a great little gift for teacher's, your office pals, school nurses and anyone else who likes to stay germ free and even's CHEAP to make!  Woot!

Now you know what I'm going to say....You can find what you need at my Online Stampin' Shop!  Just CLICK HERE

Alrighty...I'm headed back into Santa's Workshop!  Wish me luck!

Have a magical day,

Cup Caddy Coolness

Hey there, Peeps,

Man, oh man, this has been a fast weekend.  I got a lot done but there are a lot more things on my "To Do" list and I'm out of time.  I created a fun project this evening and I couldn't wait to share it with all of you.  Here's what I came up with...

It's a little caddy for the "K Cups" for those popular Keurig coffee machines.  (Here's a little secret...I hate coffee...I know...I'm weird).  Fortunately, they make other beverages too.  This little 4-pack caddy holds KCups for hot chocolate.  YUM!  Now THAT rocks my socks!  The template I used can be found HERE.
It is a template for one that holds two KCups.  You'll need to make two of them and adhere them back to back like I did to make one that holds four KCups.  Once you have the basic holder together you can add DSP and embellishments to your heart's content.  I used some of the fun "Snow Festival" Designer Series Paper on mine.

Now....who do YOU know that would love one of these?  You can find all the supplies you need at my Online Stampin' Store.  Just Click Here.

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead,

True Value

Happy Saturday!  It's another gorgeous day today in Virginia and we are headed out to get a little Christmas shopping done.  I'm sure NO ONE else has thought of that and the crowds will be non existent.  *rolls eyes*
Oh's family time.  Right?
Before we go I thought I'd share a new "guy" themed card with you.  This one came about because of a recent trip to the hardware store.
Not Home Depot or Lowes...
Here in our little town we have an old fashioned hardware store that reminds me of the one in the town where I grew up.
The kids and I went for a stroll through J.E. Rice Hardware the other day because I was looking for a few odd and ends and I noticed the fun bags they have there to bag up your nuts and bolts for purchase.  I thought they would be a great addition to a "man" card and here's what I came up with....

It's a fun pocket card!  I trimmed the top off of the bag just a tad and adhered it to a piece of Basic Black card stock.  I then used a strip of the "ruler" design from the "Fan Fair" Designer Series Paper pack and wrapped it around the middle.  Then I added one of the Ribbon Sliders to add a little interest....

Fun, huh?  I created the card by just cutting a piece of Basic Black card stock and layered a piece of Real Red on top of it.  I made a "pull" tab by punching a 1 1/4" circle out of Island Indigo card stock and folded it in half.  It is adhered to the top and then has a small hole punched in the middle of it for the Linen Thread to go through.

I added a little "raindrop splatter" in Basic Black with the stamp from the "French Foliage" stamp set.  There's another piece of the "ruler" paper at the bottom to tie it all together.

You just never know where you'll find your creative inspiration...
Even at the hardware store.

Wishing you a relaxing weekend enjoying the ones you love...

Frosty Friend

Happy Friday!!
I've been busy creating this week and I have several projects to share.  This first card is one that I created with someone in mind. (actually TWO someones).  I'm on the Morale Boosters Committee at the school where I work and we needed two "Thank You" cards for two of our administrators.....they both just happen to be men.  Now if you make cards you already know that masculine cards tend to be more challenging for some reason.  I have no clue why.... Well, this time I'm really happy with how my design came together and I hope you like it.

The card base is Early Espresso with a layer of Cherry Cobbler on top.  The cool wood grain panel is a piece of Crumb Cake card stock that was embossed in a folder that was inked with Early Espresso ink first.  How fun is that?  I'm really excited about the tag.  I first punched a small oval in the Cherry Cobbler card stock scrap.  Then, I took the Label Punch and centered the oval in it and punched out the tag.  The "Thank You" sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso ink onto Very Vanilla card stock and adhered to the card.  Then the tag was adhered over top of it using Stampin' Dimensionals so that it pops up and frames the greeting.  Cool, huh?  I spritzed the whole card with a little Pacific Point ink and then spritzed it again with the White Shimmer Paint mixed with rubbing alcohol.  It's such a pretty effect.  The photo just can't capture it very well.

Here's a look at the inside....

I made a little pocket to hold the gift card with a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock and then stamped a coordinating "snowball" stamp from the same stamp set.  Voila!

I hope they like them.  :-)  We'll find out tomorrow!'s way past my bedtime so I should sign off for now.  I'm happy that tomorrow is Friday and I can wear my comfy jeans to school!  Woot!'s the little things.

Have a magical day!

Whooo's Sweet?

Hello, Peeps!  Happy December!

I've been trying hard to squeeze in time to blog this past week and tonight's the night.  It's actually a "stampin' and football" night here.  I'm creating a few things here in the studio while watching the Redskins' game.  Woot!  It's sort of hard to stay in the Christmas frame of mind since we had a 70+ degree day here in Northern Virginia.  Don't get me wrong....I love it!

So....Here's today's fun, little project.
I'm calling it "Whoooo's Sweet on Christmas?"...

Isn't it fun?  The six Hershey's Nuggets are covered with 1" wide strips of paper from the "Snow Festival" Designer Series Paper Pack.  I added a fun punch art owl made with the Owl Builder punch and coordinating card stock.  The tree ornament was made using one of the Holiday Ornaments Framelits and card stock.  It's embossed with a sentiment from the "More Merry Messages" stamp set and Pewter Embossing Powder.  The white stitched ribbon is a perfect way to finish it off.  Take a look at the owl's eyes...Those are actually Rhinestones that were colored with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.

Now for my favorite part....the bag "topper".  It was created using a piece of Soft Suede card stock.  I opened up my Woodgrain Embossing Folder and laid it on my work surface.  I then took my Early Espresso ink pad and rubbed it all over the top side of the folder making sure that it was completely inked up.  I then put the Suede card stock in, closed it up and ran it through the Big Shot.  Voila!  See the definition?  It's so cool that by just adding a little ink to the folder first makes the whole thing just "pop".

This project really is a quick and easy....down and dirty...stinkin' cute little gift to make.  All the supplies you need can be found at my Online Stampin' Shop.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to leave me a note or send me a note.  I LOVE hearing from you!!

Alrighty....back to stampin' and football!

Have a magical day!
