Smooches and Belly Bands

Ok...I admit it.....  Sometimes when I have to think of a title for a post I get a little "punchy".  LOL
I guess it's obvious from tonight's post title, huh?

First, let me say that I had a wonderful Mother's Day today.  Mike and the kids made me a great breakfast and were so sweet taking care of me today.  I hate being on crutches and having to keep asking for help.  I need to invent something cute to carry "stuff" and use it in conjunction with my crutches.  Unfortunately everything I need to take from upstairs to downstairs and all around is just too heavy.  (mostly my laptop)  Anyway, I got to spend the afternoon down in my Stampin' Studio creating away.  It was awesome!  I really had those creative juices flowing today for some reason.  There are a couple of cards I made that I can share with you (one today and another one tomorrow) but the other project I worked on is one that I won't be able to share for awhile.  Why? You ask?  Well.....  I had an AMAZING email from Stampin' Up! Corporate last week.  I have been asked to be a "Display Demonstrator" for Stampin' Up's National Convention this year!!!  WOOT!!  Let me explain....

Every July Stampin' Up! holds it's annual National Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. (it has been held in a couple of other locations in the past but it's been brought back to SLC to be near the corporate offices in Riverton, Utah).  I can't begin to put into words how incredible Convention is.  It is SO exciting and incredibly inspirational.  There are demonstrators from all over the US and Canada who attend.  I wouldn't miss it!  Stampin' Up! is SO generous and it is always a good idea to take an empty suitcase along with you to bring back all the FREE STUFF they give out while we are there. No kidding!

Along with all the classes, swaps, demonstrations and more, there are also HUGE displays that corporate puts together to showcase new and exciting products that have not yet been released.  These "displays" are created by individual demonstrators that are chosen by corporate and YES! I was chosen!!  Woooo HOOO!!  I have been asked to create 24 original projects with the top secret box of goodies they'll be sending me this week.  I am not allowed to show what I've created or talk about any of it until after Convention.  (Yep...I had to sign a confidentiality agreement so I'm NOT talking!!)  I am SO honored that they've asked me to be such a part of this year's event!!  My brain is just racing with ideas!!

Ok....so anyway.....back to today's card share.....  This card was created using the "Summer Smooches" Designer Series Paper and coordinating card stock.  I created a "belly band" closure just for a little fun.  Take a peek....

The card is made using a "gate fold" technique.  That just means the card opens from the center outwards.  The belly band is made from a strip of Rich Razzleberry card stock with a layer of DSP in a Tangerine Tango print that was embossed with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder.

See that stinkin' cute Whisper White stitched ribbon???  That's brand new and will be coming out in the new catalog!  Wait til you see the various colors!  I used my 1 1/4" and 1" circle punches to make the flowers on the band to coordinate with the DSP.  The leaves were punched from the Bird Builder Punch out of Lucky Limeade card stock.  I added a few buttons from the Brights Button Collection tied with a little Baker's twine to finish them off.  I then took a piece of DSP and used my Simply Scored to make a coordinating envelope.  They are SUPER quick and SUPER easy to make.  Want to learn how?  I can teach you!  :-)

Here's a peek at the inside....  Notice the embossed lines down the left side and the bottom.  Those were made using the Simply Scored just to add a little interest to the inside of the card.

I think the Summer Smooches DSP is one of my favorite designs.  I love how bright and cheery it is and it coordinates with some of my favorite colors too.

Ok....I guess that's it for now.  I need to hit the hay.  I'm heading back to work tomorrow on crutches.  I'm sure my students will be raring to go.  Have a blessed week and take some time out to do something creative.  It just makes you SMILE!

Have a magical day!
