Snips and Snails and Puppy Dog....um.....Smiles?

Ok...so it doesn't rhyme.  But it does describe today's projects pretty well.

The first project is called "Snips and Snails"....

Making baby "stuff" is just the BEST!  It's so little and sweet and.....ugh....I just love it!
This is a newborn onesie.  I stamped the snail image from the Button Buddies stamp set on an iron-on Tshirt transfer.  Before that though I printed out the "Snips and Snails" title on it using my printer.  Don't forget to "tell" your printer you want to print the page "reversed" since you will be ironing it on. "Oh, Michelle!  How do you know that it's a very important step in the process????"   Um.....yeah.  I've made that mistake more than once.  *sigh*  Once I had the image ironed on and it had cooled down I simply sewed on a cute SU! button.  So simple, right??  Wait until you see the PIG onesie I made with the pig stamp from the same set!!!!
Oh my Lordy!!  It's too stinkin' CUTE!

Ok...now for the "Puppy Dog....Smile"...

Ok.....now seriously....how cute is he????
This cute little guy is made just using a couple of my Stampin' Up! punches and some scraps of card stock!  I sponged the edges of the Whisper White pieces with Crumb Cake ink to give the shapes a little depth.  The ears are Chocolate Chip...the collar and the background are Real Red.  I embossed the Real Red piece using the Stripes embossing folder.  The "dog tag" and the brads are Daffodil Delight for just a pop of color and the card base is cut out of Basic Black card stock using the Square Scallop Die on the Big Shot.  I popped up the Real Red piece with Stampin' Dimensionals and I punched out a window for the sentiment using the Modern Label Punch.  "You're the BEST" is stamped in Basic Black ink inside the window on the background piece of card stock.

Doesn't he just make you SMILE???  I know I am because I love quick and easy cards!

Ok....here's a BIG REMINDER.....
Today is the LAST day to get your Designer Series Paper on the Buy 3 Get 1 Free special.  There's still time so don't wait.  Just think...you could take that $10.95 you save and treat yourself to something sweet.

Lindsay's New Adventure...

A "welcome" in her new classroom from Mr. Gast and the hospital staff...

Welcome to Lindsay's New Adventure!
Tonight we went to the Open House for her new internship with Project Search at Prince William Hospital.
What a great event.  Linz is actually very excited and seems to really be looking forward to starting there next Tuesday.  (whew!)  We had a few things on her checklist to complete....

We got to chat with the program's director from VCU....

We went to visit the "classroom" where the interns will be based out of...(so cool!) and I heard Linz GASP when she saw the snacks on the counter!  Wonder what she saw????  Is this a sign that she's in the RIGHT place????

I would say "YES!!!"  I couldn't believe they had SMURF COOKIES!!!!!  No one there knew she LOVES Smurfs...but they sure do now!  :-)

Linz got to get acquainted with her fellow interns.....

And her new teacher, Mr. Ryan Gast...

What a wonderful year it's shaping up to be for my sweet Lindsay Girl.  I'm so glad that she's excited and seemed to fit right in.   Stay tuned.....

So Worth the Wait...

Happy Tuesday!  I had a good first day back at school/work yesterday and got the day full of meetings behind me.  Now I can go do what I love....get ready for my kiddos!  Woot!  That's the best.  Today is also an exciting day for us here at home because we will go to Prince William Hospital tonight for Lindsay's orientation for Project Search and her first internship. I'm praying for a smooth transition and that she'll be happy with wherever her placement is.  It's hard feeling that I'm tossing her out into an even bigger "pond" full of people who don't know her and all her quirks.  I just pray that she will bless all those she comes in contact with and that she will be protected every minute of every day she's there.  She is very trusting and friendly and it's a whole new world for her.

So back to my job....I'm not sure what exactly was in the water last school year but I actually lost count of the new babies that were born to staff members.  Whew!  That stork was one busy dude!  I actually have one more friend who is expecting a little boy very soon and I wanted to make her a special card.
Here's what I came up with....

I love the colors.  I used the Nursery Nest Designer Series Paper with Bashful Blue, Lucky Limeade and Whisper White card stock.  I love making envelopes that coordinate with the card.  It just adds a little extra "umph".  It's so easy to do with just a little piece of DSP.  Fun, right?

I added a button on the little snail and voila...

I used stamps from two different (but familiar) stamp sets.  The snail is from Button Buddies and the sentiment is from Word Play.  To check out all the supplies used in this project go to my online store HERE  While you're there, check out the new Christmas Stamp-A-Stack classes that are now on my Events page.  RSVP to save your spot.  There will be different designs at each class so you can sign up for one...two....or all three classes.  It's going to be so much fun.

Wishing you a magical day,

Heigh Ho...Heigh Ho.....

It's back to work I go....  *sigh*
Today I head back to school to start getting ready for the "real" first day of school which is next Tuesday for students.  I know...quit whining!  I'm very blessed to have the summers off.  I've just really gotten SO much accomplished this summer and our family has lots of changes in store this coming school year. We'll get it all sorted out and the schedules will all fall into place.  But for now....I have a very COOL project to share with you today!
I've experimented with stamping with bleach before and now I remember why I love it.  It is SO beautiful AND it's incredibly easy.  I have several project in mind using this technique and I'll be adding color using Stampin' Pastels on some of them too so stay tuned!

I wanted to show you this project first though so you can see what you can achieve using some gorgeous SU! stamps and white paper towel soaked with bleach (I had mine on a disposable plate).  Instead of "inking" up your stamp with ink you just "ink" it up on the paper towel with bleach....sort of a "bleach stamp pad".

The card stock I used as the base is "Early Espresso"...a deep, chocolatey brown.  Now just that color alone is yummy but check out what happens when you stamp an image with just straight bleach....

See that gorgeous, yellow color that you end up with???  How cool is THAT??   Just with bleach!!  I stamped on the candle "band" heavier than on the card to show the different looks you can get.  Here's are a couple of close ups of the candle....

I added torn strips of "So Saffron" card stock on the top and bottom of the band and then sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip ink.  The tag is stamped in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla card stock and then I layered it on a small piece of Cajun Craze card stock for a "pop" of fall color.
Here's the card for a look at a lighter application....

It's always so much fun to try new (or in this case...old) techniques and see what you come up with.  You never know what treasures await you.  I've used LOTS of different brands of card stock and I will honestly tell you that there is NO other card stock better than what Stampin' Up! has.  The colors are gorgeous, it's the perfect weight and the projects you can make are endless.  Plus...all the ink, ribbons and accessories are color coordinated so you don't have to search and search for the perfect match...it's already done for you.  LOVE that!

The stamp set I used looks familiar I'm sure.  I told you in an earlier post that it's one of my favorites and you're sure to see many more projects this fall made with it.
It's called French Foliage - 120845 Wood Mount and 121166 Clear Mount.
This set, the card stock and the Linen Thread used in this project can be found at my Online Store
Also, don't forget that there are only 2 days left to take advantage of the special on the Designer Series Paper - Buy 3 Get 1 FREE.  That special ends on August 31st.
Have a wonderful Monday!

I can't believe it but it seems that my blog has hit a new record high (for me at least...) of over 10,000 hits!  Seriously???  I always have said that I thought my mom is the only one who reads it!  LOL!!

Well....to celebrate this huge milestone....I'm offering a very special Blog Candy Friday treat today.

Ok...don't miss out....leave me a comment with your favorite DSP.

Can't wait to hear from you!  Make it a magical Friday!

Adventure is out there!

"Adventure is out there!"
That's one of Lindsay's favorite lines from the movie "Up!".  Today adventure is definitely out there and we're off to find it!  Mike and I decided to surprise the kids with a little adventure. When we wake them up and get them into the car we are going to tell them our secret....We are going to go to the beach for the day!  Woot!  I can't wait to see their faces.  I have to start back to work at school on Monday for the new school year so it's our last little "Hurrah" before then.

Before we head out though I thought I'd share this cute little project with you.  It's so much fun and really a fast little gift to make.  Here's a photo...

Isn't it sweet?  It's just a little canning jar filled with Ghost Peeps I love me some PEEPS!!!  Woot!
Anyway...I actually used the new Spooky Bingo Bits stamp set and embossed a couple of images and made tags out of them and the used another image..."Spooky" and stamped that right onto my white satin ribbon.  SO fun!  There''s a piece of Basic Black card stock embossed with the Spider Web embossing folder on the Big Shot and I cut it to fit the inside lid....Here's a closer peek...

I made a really cool "dangly" tag to attach to the jar.  I'm thinking I might need to make a short video to explain that though.  LOL  Oh well....

Here are the images included in the Spooky Bingo Bits stamp set...

So many designs...so little time!!
You can check them out at my online store HERE
It's open 24/7 so check it out!

Ok...I'm off to pack up the boogie boards and towels.....  Surf's UP!

Have a magical day!

Falling for Fall...

Welcome to Virginia....where apparently we have earthquakes...???  Who knew?
I experienced my first one in WalMart yesterday when the kids and I were shopping.  Wow!
We're all fine...that's the bottom line.  I will admit that it was really unnerving.though.

I came home after all the excitement and finished getting ready for stamp camp.  We had such a great group of ladies and it was tons of fun.  I think that the "Button Buddies" stamp set is now even more popular!  Lol.

I was working on a few new designs yesterday and I pulled out a favorite stamp set of mine....."French Foliage"  It is such a great set for fall and I love all the possibilities.  Here's the card I made for today's post...

The outside with a "collage" image....
The inside....
The card base is More Mustard and is accented with Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler and Chocolate Chip.  The images are stamped using More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler, Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip and Crumb Cake.  The ribbon is the Chantilly Crochet Trim accented with an antique brad.

Here's a look at the stamps in this set:

French Foliage - 120845 Wood Mount   and   121166 Clear Mount

I love all the colors of the season and all those crisp fall nights.  Ahhhh.....  Sounds good to me.
Don't forget to check out the details on my Christmas Stamp-A-Stack classes.
Have a wonderful day!

Christmas? Yep! You betcha, baby!

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday!

I'm excited about today's post because I've been working on getting the details nailed down for my "Christmas Stamp-A-Stack".  What?  You don't know what the heck a "stamp-a-stack" is??  Well....after this you won't be able to say that anymore.  :-)

A stamp-a-stack is basically a stamp camp where you come over to  make a "stack" of cards.  There are usually a few designs offered and you make multiples of those designs and you end up with a gorgeous stack of handmade cards.  Making cards for the holidays can be a daunting task but not when you make them at a S-A-S.  The designs are done....the parts and pieces are ready to stamp and assemble and the best part is you get to sit and chat with other friends while making them.  Woot!

So here's today's project to get you in the "holiday" frame of mind....and maybe...just maybe the card design shown will be in the first Christmas Stamp-A-Stack class....  just sayin'....
This is a lovely Christmas card using one of my favorite stamp sets from the new Holiday Mini Catalog.  It's called "Christmas Lodge".  Also, the DSP that's peeking out there is from a new pack of gorgeous paper called "Frostwood Lodge" also in the mini.

Now....I stamped the lodge image onto Whisper White card stock along with the greeting then layered it on DSP and then a piece of  Cherry Cobbler CS.  Then I thought I'd make a little "gift" to give with it.

There are four coasters stamped using the same stamp set using Black Staz-On ink and then the tiles are baked in the oven for 1/2 hour to set the ink. Once they have cooled, you add some nice felt pads to the bottoms to protect the surfaces they are placed on...and VOILA!
So easy and such a great gift to give to neighbors, friends, teachers, family members....and the list goes on.
The tiles are SO cheap and can be found at your local Lowes or Home Depot.

Here's a different view of the card showing the little smooch spray I added to make it look like it's snowing.  Can you see it??  I'd be the one sitting inside by the fire with maybe a nice hot buttered rum.  Yum!

So....are you ready for the Christmas Stamp-A-Stack details???

Stamped blessings,

A Little "Pick Me Up"

Hey there peeps!  Happy Monday!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I sure did.  I had a house full of stampers here at my house on Saturday for stamp camp and that was fantastic.  We had lots of fun and they all seemed to enjoy making their projects.  I have photos and will post some after the second Button Buddies class on Tuesday.

We were so happy to have Brittany and Sam here for the night on Saturday.  Brittany and I (for those who don't know) have a small-ish photography business called Suitable For Framing Photography.  We do weddings, babies, seniors...you name it.  We've added a Facebook page and are in the process of adding to it to show some of our work.  Anyway...we had a final consult on Sunday with a bride and groom whose wedding we'll be shooting in September so they drove up so she could be there.  Also, Sam's sister is getting married in October and he needed to get fitted for his tux.  Win-Win!

After dinner in Old Town Saturday...Brittany and Sam  <3

Ok...here's a little project I designed as a little "Pick Me Up".  I loved this flower design when I saw it on another blog and I sat through the tutorial several times to figure out how to make the flowers!  Thanks, Frenchie, for your awesome tutorial!  Sometimes I'm a slow learner!  LOL

They are made with Designer Series Paper and a little glue.  They are really sweet in person. Once I had them all put together I added a stem and leaves.  I have them in a cute, little bottle filled with sand.
After the flowers were all done I designed a card to go with them.
It's a "Z-Fold" card and it coordinates perfectly I think.

The stamp set I used is called "Thoughts and Prayers".  It's a great set to have in your collection.  Here are the images that are included:

Jack of All Trades...

Hey there Peeps!
I'm actually posting a little early because this is going to be a crazy, busy weekend around here.  I'm really looking forward to stamp camp here at my house on Saturday afternoon.  I'll be posting pics of the project soon.  I always feel like I "got it right" when I show a card or project to my husband and he says, "Wow!".  LOL  He gave me a "wow" when I showed him the Button Buddies project for camp this weekend!  Woot!  I'm really excited because I had such a great response to this camp that I had to split it up into two different classes.  So...between Saturday and Tuesday's classes I'll have a total of 20 stampers here!  That just rocks my socks!

Anyway...today's project is another one that I made with another one of my new sets from the new catalog  Here's a shocker...it's another Halloween project!  hahaha

See...I told you....I love fall and Halloween!
Now to look at Jack you're probably thinking...."um...ok...it's a pumpkin pocket card.  woo hoo".

Well.....hold onto YOUR hats!

HA HA!!!  See!!  Jack lost his hat too!  I was trying to do something fun with the pocket card that would be a little "surprise" or maybe unexpected when you open it and this is what I came up with.
The pocket is made using Concord Crush card stock and the stars are stamped on it in Basic Black ink.  The card is made with a layer of Basic Black and a layer of Whisper White.  The pumpkins are stamped in Pumpkin Pie ink (go figure) and their faces, the greeting and the hat are stamped in Basic Black ink....and the star is in Daffodil Delight ink.
I popped the hat up on Stampin' Dimensionals at the very top...making sure to leave room for Jack to slide up underneath it when the card is back in the pocket.
Clear as mud?  :-)

I was SO sad when SU! retired one of my old favorite stamp sets called "Carved and Candlelit".  I loved that set and practically wore it out!  Well...I'm a REALLY happy stamper now because they added a brand new pumpkin set in this year's catty called "Jack of All Trades" and it's a perfect addition to my stamp room!  I know I'll be making lots of projects with this set in the coming months.

Jack of All Trades - 122620 Wood Mount    122622 Clear Mount

Here's a photo of the pumpkin we (ok...mostly ME) carved last year for Halloween.
The trick or treaters LOVED it. Even pumpkins can use a little pixiedust!

Tinkerbell!

I hope you like this happy little card.  Stay tuned for more fun projects....

I hope you have a wonderfully relaxing weekend....you can always drop by my online store if you'd like to stay in your pj's and shop to your heart's content.

Blessings to you,
Michelle

You're the BEST!

Good Morning and Happy TGIF!

With Halloween on my brain I started thinking about candy apples of all things.  One of our favorite things that Britt, Linz and I love doing when we are at the Disney Parks is drool over all the sweet treats in the shops and at the resort bakeries.  There are so many to choose from and lots of them are inspired by Disney characters.  Here are two of our favorites....

Ugh...I'm drooling!

So I was trying hard to keep my mind on getting the rest of the kits cut and prepped for the "Button Buddies in a Box" stamp camp here this Saturday but I had those pesky candy apples on  the brain.  Finally I gave in and created this card and I feel so much better!  LOL!

The card base is cut from Daffodil Delight with a layer of Real Red card stock on top.  Then I used some of my new "Just Add Cake" Designer Series Paper to add a little "pop" of color.  The candy apple is cut from Real Red and Early Espresso.  The "buttons" are punched from Daffodil Delight with the Word Window punch and the "stick" is punched from a scrap of So Saffron card stock and sponged lightly with More Mustard ink.  I added a few Bold Brights brads to finish it off.  The "You're the BEST" stamp is from the "Perfect Words" stamp set and is stamped on a scrap of Whisper White card stock using Early Espresso ink.
This would make a great card to give for lots of different occasions.  I know that I'd sure like to get this one in the mail!  Talk about a "Magical Day"!  Woot!

Don't forget that the special on the Designer Series Paper goes until August 31st.  It's Buy 3 Get 1 FREE.  Love it!  To see all of the designs included in the special just pop into my online store.  Just click HERE
No lines to wait in and the lights are always on!  ;-)

I hope you have a wonderful Friday and as they always say at Disney....

"Have a magical day!"
